TOLLAND – U.S. Sen. Chris Murphy recently selected Environics, a gas flow management systems manufacturer, as his “Murphy’s Monday Manufacturer.”
According to Murphy’s announcement, Environics is a family and woman-owned manufacturer. Environics specializes in the manufacturing of gas flow management systems for air monitoring sites for universities, the U.S. military, sensor manufacturers, stack testers and gas companies among others.
Environics, which is located in an 11,000 square foot facility, is a second-generation business, founded in 1986. Environics is the only licensed manufacturer of the Reduced Oxygen Breathing Device, which is used by all branches of the U.S. military and developed by the U.S. Navy. ROBD is used to train flight crews and pilots to recognize signs of hypoxia or oxygen deprivation to recognize early symptoms and using their on-board oxygen.
“Thanks to Rachel and the hardworking team at Environics, they have been able to produce quality products used by companies and our armed forces all around the world,” Murphy said. “I’m grateful for their many years of dedication to Connecticut manufacturing, and I’m excited to see what they do next.”
Environics gives back and it is active in the Tolland and Rockville communities as it donates to local food banks and shelters such as Cornerstone and Hockanum Valley Community Council. Environics is led by Rachel Stansel, who serves as the president of the company and ran the Boston Marathon in 2015 and 2016 to raise money for the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, which is a residential summer camp and year-round center in Ashford. The center serves families and children who are coping with cancer and other serious health conditions.
The products manufactured at Environics include software, zero air generators, stand alone permeation systems, biological atmosphere incubation mixers, gas dilutors, gas dividers and more. Environics is an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer with a Quality Systems Certification since 1997.
“At Environics, we are very proud of our Connecticut roots,” Stansel said. “Our quality begins with our parts, and many of our long-term vendors also call Connecticut home. The Environics team is dedicated to our customers’ needs, before, during and after a system is purchased. We proudly stand by our systems and believe in fostering long-term relationships with our customers and vendors.”
