Roundup: Turnovers cost New Britain boys basketball in road contest

ENFIELD - Enfield downed New Britain Monday night, winning over the Hurricanes 57-46.

New Britain was led by Omarion Gadson’s 14 points. Xavier Goode had 13 points for the Hurricanes in a night where they committed 25 turnovers.

Leading in points for Enfield was Isaiah Plummer with 16 points.

Girls basketball

Newington 35, Wethersfield 24: Newington girls basketball defeated Wethersfield in a 35-24 final Monday night.

Lily Ferguson’s 19 points led the way for the Nor’easters. She had five rebounds and two assists as well.

Karissa Zocco had nine points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Bella Cucuta had seven points with nine boards.

Alexa Grenier led Wethersfield with eight points.

Boys hockey

Plainville co-op 7, Northeastern 1: Plainville co-op boys hockey won 7-1 on Saturday, striking first and never looking back in the win.

A first period goal from Brody Davidson opened the floodgates, with Dominick Violette scoring the first goal in the second before Connor Konopka ran off three straight goals of his own in the second period.

Jacob Nelson added another goal to the second period scoring burst while Owen Davidson and Austin Jonas each scored in the third period.

Konopka finished the night with five points while Brody Davidson finished with three points. Nelson also had three points.
